The science & saftey behind RangeDay-Breathe
Our foundation is built on disciplined, high-performance archery and evidence-based nervous system science. We use structured, practical protocols to train the body and mind to shift from stress into control, building awareness and restoring calm under pressure.
The Biology of Response
Military and police service conditions the body to react with speed and precision. While vital in the field, this "always-on" state can be difficult to dial down at home. We work with your biology to promote safety, using the repetitive mechanics of archery to guide the nervous system from high alert back to equilibrium.
Why this approach works
Time on the range
Consistent exposure to a controlled environment allows the nervous system to down-regulate. By utilising familiar range protocols from service, we create a predictable space that replaces threat-scanning with focus, naturally lowering stress markers like cortisol through lived experience rather than just theory.
Breath & Body Tools
Breath is our most direct bridge to the autonomic nervous system. By consciously extending exhales and refining posture, we reverse the shallow breathing and muscle tension associated with stress. This shift lowers the heart rate and anchors the mind in the present moment.
Community & Safety
Social connection is a powerful regulator. Our small-group dynamics provide the essential cues of safety, tone, presence, and shared experience that allow the guard to drop. For many, this supportive environment is the first step toward reclaiming a sense of belonging.
Breathwork Protocols
Structured patterns like box breathing and cadence timing are integrated into the archery shot cycle. These intentional techniques target emotional regulation and focus under pressure, eventually turning conscious effort into a natural, instinctive state of balance.
Vagal Tone Regulation
The vagus nerve is central to our body’s ability to recover. Through slow breathing and repetitive safe experiences, we strengthen vagal tone, the biological capacity to shift from stress to calm. This builds lasting resilience and emotional stability.
Attention Training
Hypervigilance often keeps the mind scanning for danger. Archery recalibrates this by requiring a singular, quiet focus. Each shot acts as a cognitive reset: training the mind to remain steady and present even when the environment feels complex.
Our saftey protocols
Safety is not an add-on. It is the foundation of everything we do.

Clear safety protocols
We run this properly. Every time.
That outcome is not accidental. It comes from discipline, clear rules, and consistent supervision. We apply those same principles to every range.
The evidence behind our safety
Archery is one of the safest participation activities when delivered under structured conditions.
Injury rates sit at less than 1 per 1,000 participants.
Most mainstream sports are 20 to 40 times higher.
Insurance providers classify archery alongside low-risk activities like golf and tennis.
The difference is not the equipment.
It is the environment.
When the range is controlled, the commands are clear, and the process is followed, risk drops to near zero.
That is the standard we operate at.
